Quickly: what comes to mind when you think of a college student?
As a culture, we have a tendency to lump college students neatly into one category: right out of high school, living on campus, engaging in hijinks whilst wearing togas… (Okay, that last part is just the result of watching too many 80s movies). While this once may have been the case—and of course, plenty of college students still fit that description—the landscape of higher education has changed drastically in the last few decades.
An increasing number of adults over the age of 25 are enrolled, and a majority of students these days juggle families and jobs in addition to a school. Not only have the demographics shifted, but technology has completely reshaped the college experience. The folks at Flat World illustrated the shift in higher education trends in the last 30 years.
