Education undoubtedly enhances careers, but you don’t necessarily have to earn an entire new degree in order to move forward with your professional goals. Online certificate programs are becoming a popular way to learn new skills that can result in a promotion, raise, and even a new job altogether.
A recent article in The New York Times discusses how institutions of all kinds—from large universities to community colleges—are offering more online certificate program options, and how more people are using certificates to learn new skills, stay up to date with the latest industry technologies, or fulfill prerequisites for a degree program.
Certificate programs on average require completion of four to six courses. While many programs require you to already have a bachelor’s degree in order to enroll, others are available to people at any level, and credits can often be applied to a degree program should you choose to enroll in one.
Colorado State University offers online certificates in various areas of study. Have you earned a certificate online? If so, tell us about your experience in the comments below.
